Quality Matters

My journey with Quality Matters began over a decade ago in the spring of 2010. At the time, I was teaching at Glendale Community College, who had just begun to implement a new program to ensure the quality of their online courses. All faculty teaching online courses were required to take the Gold Standard Quality Matters training course. This was a three day, in person course that focused on best practices for teaching online, as well as student centered course design.

When I began teaching full-time at YC as a one semester temporary faculty member, I was introduced to QM again through Lindsay Henning’s IYOC workshops. Already convinced of the importance of good design for online courses, I determined to obtain QM certification for both ENG 101 and ENG 102, which I accomplished by the end of that school year.

I have completed the IYOC course a total of three times. In addition, I completed the APPQMR and the PRC courses in the summer of 2020. I am now certified as a QM Peer Reviewer.

I began QM review for both ENG 210 and ENG 237 in August of 2020. Both courses have been QM certified.
