In English courses, all papers should follow MLA formatting guidelines. In general, that means that papers will…
- Have a one inch margin on all sides
- Use 12 pt. Times New Roman font
- Be double-spaced
- Contain a heading at the top left containing the student’s name, professor’s name, class name, and the date.
- Contain a unique title centered on the first page.
Example of MLA Formatted Paper
If you need some help getting your paper set up correctly, the following video will walk you through setting up your paper properly, step by step! Please note that this video demonstrates MLA formatting using Microsoft Word. While you might be more familiar with using Google Docs, learning how to use Microsoft Word is a really important skill, and some of your professors might require you to use Word, rather than Docs. I highly recommend you use Word.
